Offshore outsourcing has become a popular option for companies seeking an affordable, high quality alternative to managing their R&D operations. To meet this need, Sasken has developed a program for helping you to set up and manage an offshore delivery center in India.
Sasken's Transfer of Technology (ToT) process is your first step toward the establishment of an Offshore Development Center (ODC). It prepares the groundwork for a smooth transition of engineering responsibilities to the ODC, based on your objectives. An offshore team is assembled and a combination of onsite and offshore training is delivered. Next, Sasken sets up the work and lab environment, integrating your processes with our own. Finally, engineering responsibilities are fully transferred to the ODC and the focus shifts toward delivering work based on your requirements.
Sasken ensures that the ODC functions as a seamless extension of your own R&D organization. Sasken works with you to ensure that your business objectives are consistently met to deliver lasting value.
A Quality Approach
Sasken's approach toward managing the ODC covers the following aspects:
Program Management: Deliver to customer's requirements for on-time, high quality work, within the established budget through mature engineering processes and comprehensive review mechanisms.
Knowledge Management: Build and retain the right technical depth and expertise within the team to handle the assigned responsibilities effectively and autonomously.
People Management: Ensure the availability of the right people in the appropriate positions to satisfy employees and keep the team motivated.
Lab Management: Ensure the availability of the right infrastructure, hardware and software tools and equipment for development and testing.
Performance Measurement
Sasken measures ODC performance along four dimensions:
Productivity: Measures the amount of work delivered by an engineer in a week or month's timeframe. This indicates the ODC's overall efficiency rating and helps determine the size of the team necessary to handle certain responsibilities.
Predictability: This measures accuracy in time or effort estimated at project initiation and is indicative of potential delays in delivery and the capability to manage project uncertainties and risk.
Quality: Quality of the work delivered is expressed as the number of defects in the end deliverable. Removing these defects would require additional time and effort.
Autonomy: This measures Sasken's ability to handle certain activities independently and indicates overall maturity level of the ODC. This is a qualitative measure based on client feedback.
