Ensured consistent delivery of Android security management releases

Customer: Leading Japanese Enterprise Device makers

As an architect, handling Android security management releases for our customers, my responsibilities cover technically guiding the team and enabling daily technical project activities. Every month, we handle Android security updates for 19+ devices. It is, therefore, essential to meet the schedule for the planned build time and launch the operator’s security updates to their end-users’ devices.

We have 24 engineers and five team leads who handle Kernel, Framework, Connectivity, Multimedia, and Validation for these devices. With just a day’s notice to shift completely to a WFH model, the Sasken IT team worked proactively, treating our requests as high priority activities. They enabled VPNs to access OEM’s tools, sites, OneDrive paths, and the build server. We were also provided access to lab PCs which helped in sharing binaries for testing.

The team held daily discussions via video conferencing and multiple hours of screen sharing to provide status updates and in monitoring overall progress. With the necessary approvals and safety protocols, some engineers worked on-campus as well. We have, therefore, faced no compromise in the quality and schedules of our deliverables. The customers were aware of the situation and appreciated our efforts to maintain business continuity. We have even received a perfect C-SAT (customer satisfaction) score of 5/5 from one of them, which reassures us and motivates our efforts in these unusual circumstances.
